The AHS Foundation has contributed over $350,000 to projects since inception in 2009. This is balanced across the four pillars of AHS: Academics, Arts, Athetics and Altruism. Examples of projects supported by the Foundation include:
Link Crew Program
The Link Crew program provides a structure that guides freshmen toward both academic and
social success. Link Crew helps create a safe and supportive school environment where freshmen learn that people at school care about them and their future. Link Crew removes the culture of negativity, hazing and bullying toward freshmen and replaces it with structural support and purposeful connections that make a measurable difference in their success and at our school. The transition to high school can be a major event in the life of a young person, and yet very few effective strategies for support exist in most high schools.

Mental Health First Aid Training
The Foundation partnered with administration and the PTSA to fund Mental Health First Aid instructor training to key staff in so that all teachers at AHS could receive the training while at school. Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders. |
